Out of all the sunsets we chased on Hawai’i, this one at Kipahulu was definitely in the top 2. I’ve had to resist a serious urge to post, like, 80 photos of the progression because it’s just so.unreal. The biggest lesson that got underscored throughout our trip was that you can’t predict when you’re going to get a spectacular color show. Being in the right place at the right time is only half the trick. The other trick is persistence. Of course, as usual for us on this trip, catching this sunset meant walking back to the Jeep and setting up camp in pitch black. Stressful, a little, but totally worth it.
